The Science and Religion Dialogue:
Past and Future
Years
From October 25th to 28th 2012, the University of Heidelberg, Germany, will host a major conference on “The Science and Religion Dialogue: Past and Future”. The conference will start with a festive opening event, which also commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sir John Templeton and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the John Templeton Foundation.
For the following days, we are planning a series of 12 academic sessions or panels, which will focus on the areas of astronomy, mathematics, physics, biology, psychology, philosophical theology, religious ethics, and various aspects of the Science and Religion Dialogue. The conference is expected to include about 50 highly-regarded scholars as well as promising future leaders from a broad spectrum of academic fields and religious traditions. Participation is by invitation only, but the conference will be documented by live webcast for global access.
In connection with this event, we announce an essay contest for young scholars. Up to five winners will be invited to participate in this conference. Their travel costs will be covered and room and meals provided during their stay in Heidelberg. We ask for a paper between 1,500 and 4,000 words related to the general topic of the Science and Religion Dialogue. The papers will be evaluated by an international group of scholars. The deadline for submitting the essay is April 30st 2012.
